Course Overview:

The Train the Trainer in Dementia Awareness course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to both understand dementia and effectively deliver training on the subject. The course covers the different types of dementia and their symptoms, the effects on memory, communication, and behaviour, and the importance of person-centred care in supporting individuals with dementia. It also explores common misconceptions, the impact on families and carers, communication strategies, and best practice approaches for promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing. Alongside this subject knowledge, the course develops training delivery skills such as lesson planning, adapting to varied learning styles, engaging learners, assessing understanding, and ensuring training aligns with current care standards and legislation.

🎯To build knowledge of the types, symptoms, and progression of dementia, and their impact on individuals and families.

🎯To promote understanding of person-centred approaches and best practice in dementia care.

🎯To develop the ability to design, deliver, and evaluate engaging dementia awareness sessions.

🎯To ensure trainers can adapt their teaching to different learner needs while maintaining compliance with sector standards and legislation.
